The ChemPortal search function helps you to find chemistry-related literature and information. The collection is based on the chemistry section of the catalogue of the TIB Hanover and includes not only journal articles and books but also conference proceedings, research reports, research data, standards, and much more.

We are constantly updating our data sources and welcome suggestions from the scientific community!

How can I use the search function?

Thematic introduction

You can find specialist literature on a particular topic by carrying out a simple keyword search in German or English.

Examples: chemoinformatics; Corey-Seebach;, PFAS monitoring

Tip 1: Subsequent filters

The subsequent filters can be used, for example, to select media types and sources (journals, book chapters, encyclopaedia entries) or to specify whether the results should be available electronically or free of charge.

Tip 2: Targeted wording

Avoiding filler words can yield more precise results (e.g. microbial production terpenes rather than microbial production of terpenes). It is also helpful to use quotation marks around related terms (e.g. “Green Chemistry” rather than Green Chemistry).

Nuanced overview of the research landscape

Using additional filters, you can display selected types of material on a particular topic, such as university theses, research reports or conference proceedings. The results can also be sorted chronologically.

Filter: Theses, newest first

Examples: photocatalytic CO2 reduction, Zintl clusters, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons

Filter: Report, newest first

Example: solid-state batteries

Filter: Conference paper, Conference Proceedings, newest first

Example: Cellulose

Please note: Due to differences in publication practices, this filter is particularly effective for topics in the field of engineering.
